System Security Virus, i need of help desperatley!!!
So, i have two computer towers. One for my music and my movies (the one i'm on right now) and one for all my word documents, short stories, novels in progress, and other such things.

Well, my document tower got a virus today. Yeah, a fucking virus! and guess what was on that tower? the novel I'm working on called Steam.

Usually, a virus will let you continue doing your work, but in this case it CLOSES EVERYDAMN THING I TRY TO OPEN SAYING IT'S INFECTED! the virus is called System Securiy. It's a rogue anti-virus program that auto installed itself into my computer. I can't uninstall it, i can' open up my anti-spyware/virus program to get rid of it, i can't get on the internet and most importantly, i can't write any more to my novel.

I press CNTRL+ALT+DLT, it auto closes, saying it's infected. I open control panel, same thing happens. I try to open up any program that isn't System Security, guess what? Same friggin' thing, time after time!

If anybody knows of anyway to get rid of this damn thing, please, please, please let me know.
I've tried safe mode, and uninstalling it, but safe mode doesn't let you do that, i've treid safe mode with my anti-virus, it tells me to EXIT SAFEMODE to use it, which just isn't possible. I try to run an online scan in safe mode, and it won't let me do that either.

I've exhausted every possibe method i can think of to try and squash this damn virus, all to no avail. so once again...

PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE help m out here, if my novel ever gets published i will put you in the special thanks section, because without you i'll never end up finishing...

Any information on a virus called Bloodhound.Exploit.196
Does anyone know about the virus called Bloodhound.Exploit.196?

I will like to know more about it and how it can be removed from Windows Vista. It's constantly being picked up by my Symantec Antivirus and it's annoying.

This memory-resident worm may arrive on a system as a dropped file of WORM_BROPIA.I

Like its earlier SDBOT variants, this worm also spreads through network shares. It attempts drop copies of itself to accessible shared folders within s network. If the share has restricted access rights, it attempts to log on to target network shares using a list of user names and passwords.

This worm may also exploit the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) vulnerability to propagate across networks.

For more information about this vulnerability and how to clean the virus, please refer to the following page www.softe.org and visit its free spyware virus protection software download page.

There is a virus on my computer. This one: Backdoor.Win32.SdBot.azp , the system files are: dmops22k.exe and topbarw1.exe. The problem is that we've got a local network. And when we kill it on one one computer it goes to another. Neen a prog that would kill it and close it the way back.

Best Antivirus Program?
Hello, I'm new here. I'm having trouble with my antivirus which is Symantec Antivirus Corporate Client. Every time I want to initiate a scane, it would always pop a message about having trouble with the scan engine. I tried to seek help at their website but they were talking French about it.

I plan to change my antivirus so can you suggest what is the best antivirus you think there is as of the moment? (I'm assuming you're using the antivirus you might suggest)

Thank you.

Subscription Key

Can anyone help me with the Symantec subscription key bug?

(Yes, I know Norton is useless, but removing it is a PITA.  Yes, I am aware of AVG.)

I had Norton 2004 preloaded, and I’ve renewed the sub a couple of times.

This time I got an invoice with a subscription key. When I go to unlock the update, it tells me the subscription key isn’t valid. At the official site there’s this ass protocol: sync up your clock, disconnect from the internet.  It says things like:  The subscription key is case sensitive.  Do not type the letter "o" instead of zero.  (Thanks, Symantec.)   Argh. It doesn’t work. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about this on a lot of boards. All I want to do is enter the subscription key Norton sent me in the place it’s supposed to go! Can anyone help?

I'm having a problem with a program (don't know if its spyware, adware or something more malicious) called WinFixer 2005.

I'm currently running Windows XP Home Edition, on an a Dell Inspiron 1150. It has 19GB of free space, and runs with a Pentium 4 processor. (don't know what else could be of any relevance)

I've got Norton System Works 2005 on my computer and Webroot Spy Sweeper and Microsoft AntiSpyware, and none of these programs are able to rid my computer of this problem (I've been getting rather annoying popups and the like)

Can someone explain (or tell me) in a rather simplistic way (I'm no computer genius by any stretch of the imagination) how to get rid of it?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you don't want to post here, I can be reached at anderson.christina1986(at)gmail.com.

Thanks all.

Sober infected PCs spew right-wing 'hate spam'
Virus writers turned PCs infected with the Sober-P worm into relay stations for right-wing propaganda using backdoor access into compromised machines to load malicious code.

Sober-Q was downloaded from Saturday (14 May) onwards onto computers infected by recent Sober-P worm. The mass mailing Sober-P worm tricked recipients into thinking they had won tickets to the 2006 World Cup football tournament, duping numerous victims since its first appearance on 2 May.

Sober-Q doesn't spread itself via e-mails (even though it's been lumped with the Sober worm family it lacks any self-replicating function, so it's not a virus). The malware is essentially a spam engine - bulk mailing links to websites with right-wing German nationalistic content to domains with suffixes '.de', '.ch', '.at' or '.li'. Sober-Q also spams messages in English to domains outside the German-speaking world.

Examples of Sober-Q subject lines include: "Multi-Kulturell = Multi-Kriminell" (Multi-culturally = multi-criminally); "Dresden 1945" and "The Whore Lived Like a German".

"Spam has been traditionally regarded as annoying messages that promote Viagra, porn and low cost mortgages," said Scott Chasin, CTO of email security firm MX Logic. "But for the past year we have seen a trend in which worm authors are using spam not to hawk goods, but as a tool for political propaganda."

In June 2004, a spambot network used PCs infected by another variant of the Sober worm to disseminate political spam in one of the first attacks of its kind. The spread of the hate mail spam messages generated by Sober-Q coincides with ongoing celebrations throughout Europe this week marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

Virus problem?
Hi :) I just joined...

I've had reoccurring problems where my music skips either constantly or just every once in a while when I'm running a few applications at a time and switching between applications. Usually it happens when I have windows media player running, but late it's with any music program (like Radio@aol or AOL radio via netscape). Right now I'd say that's my smallest problem, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's all connected.

Over the last week I've been running my McAfee virus scanner a lot and every single time my computer shuts off before it can finish. Like about an hour into it. My comp has shut off many times this month even when I wasn't running the virus scanner. I always thought maybe it was from overheating. Is it possible that there's a virus on my comp making it shut off?

Edit: Would running my VS in safe mode help any?

thanks, in advance!
